Cambridge-Oxford train in January 1955 climbing up
to Ridgmont from Lidlington. Snowy conditions were
good for smoke-effect photos.

B.R. class 4MT 4-6-0 in the 75xxx series silhouetted against
the evening sky with a Bletchley bound train, having just
left Lidlington. Photo taken at the 'forty-steps' which was
an official pedestrian crossing over the railway embankment.

B.R. class 2MT 2-6-2T tank engine, believed to be no 84005,
with the Bedford-Bletchley push-pull service, or
'motor train' between Lidlington and Ridgmont.
The area in the background used to be known as `rough hills'.
The locomotive is only about a year old (in 1955) and
the photo was taken in the school holidays, as the
train was 3 coaches during term time.
